On July 14, 2017, Indian Railway minister Suresh Prabhu introduced a Rail SAARTHI mobile app to integrate all mobile application to attend to various passenger requirements, including ticket booking, inquiry, on-board cleaning , ordering meal and know train running staus on a single platform. The SAARTHI app would help to fulfill all the requirements of passengers.
Currently there are many apps which have been launched by the railways for different purposes. Each app provides only single type of service to the customer. To use different services, users need to search and download each application separately. For better customer experience, there was a need to integrate all railway app services in single application.
Important features you need to know about this app:
User can also book Flight ticket through the app. Railway Minister also announced a quota facility for differently-able people in 3AC coach and extending the advance booking period for foreigners to 365 days from present 120 days.
Users now don’t need to download multiple railway apps as the new SAARTHI app will allow them to perform various functions.
Users can also share their feedback While booking tickets through the app.
A lower berth in a 3AC coach will be reserved for physically-challenged people and the middle for the individual accompanying them. But, there will be only one berth in the 3AC coach of a train.
The seat quota provision which was only in the sleeper class (2 berths) has now been extended to the 3AC as well.
How to download this app:
1. You need to go to Google Play Store in your Android device.
2. Search for the term “COMS – for RAIL SAARTHI”.
3. You will see an ‘Install’ button. Clicking on that will download and install the app on your device.
4. Once installed, you will have to log in to the app after creating a ‘Sign In’ ID.
